MARIPOSA MONTHLY MUST-HAVESMay is going to be an exciting month. I can just feel it! Here in Australia, the weather is cooling off and I can finally bring out the sweaters, boots and scarves. I absolutely love Autumn attire! Back home in Nashville, the flowers are in full bloom and summer is quickly approaching. Later this month, I’ll be flying stateside for my brother’s wedding at is in early June. I can’t wait to be back home with family and close friends for this special occasion.

Just like with every new month, I like to set an intention for the fresh 31 days ahead. This month, my intention word is GENTLENESS.

In the next few weeks, I am traveling twice—once for work, once personal—and with a few changes at work, I know this month is going to be BUSY! Rather than getting caught up in the whirlwind of busyness, I want to preempt this with intentionally focusing on gentleness. Gentleness with myself and gentleness with others.

I recently wrote a post on lowering expectations of self and letting go of overwhelm in order to regain serenity in your life.

Gentleness is all part of this process. By taking the pressure of yourself to do more, be more, accomplish more, you can relax and go with the flow. Gentleness with others is also a key relationship builder. When we release our demands on others, lower our expectations of them and accept them for who they are, we find that struggle and frustration start to slip away.

Just because we lower our expectations of someone and accept them as they are doesn’t mean we condone or tolerate unhealthy or negative behavior. It just means we let go of our need to fix or control them. We realize that we are powerless over another person. There is so much freedom when we welcome this truth into our hearts.

This month, I encourage you to set an intention word.

How do you want to feel?

What major shift do you want to make in your life?

What does your ideal day look like?

While honestly answering these questions with yourself, be aware of an intention word that might bubble to the surface. Maybe a similar theme forms with your answers to the questions. Find your intention word woven into this theme.

Let’s jump in to my May Mariposa’s Must-haves! I am very excited to share some of my favorite things with you.

  • SPIRITED by Rachel MacDonald and Tara Bliss

I read this e-book during my recent beach holiday. It is written by two of my all-time favorite bloggers/coaches. These ladies know how to inspire! Spirited is a collection of Soulful Lessons on Clarity, Connection + Coming Home (to You). I was blessed with many ah-ha and uh-huh, that’s me moments throughout reading this nugget of wisdom. The e-book is divided into three distinct parts: Clarifying Your Vision, Fear-Wrangling and Coming Home To You.

If you want to feel heard, inspired and uplifted and if you want to be challenged, stretched and enlightened, well this book is for YOU!

You can purchase spirited here for $29. It is well worth the investment!

Here are some of the gold I discovered in this book below. Feel free to tweet these quotes out if they resonate with you.

Make Me Pink by Maybelline

  • MAYBELLINE Color Sensational Lipcolor in MAKE ME PINK

I discovered this lipcolor during my recent trip home to Nashville over Christmas Break. I wore it practically everyday, and without fail, I got complimented almost every time. Friends would ask me, what lipstick are you wearing?  You know you’ve found a keeper when other girls want to buy it, too! This lipcolor is the perfect pink hue. It compliments any skin tone and has long-lasting wear. The creamy texture, rich pigment and great color payoff make this a fantastic addition to any girl’s make-up bag.

You can find Make Me Pink at your local drugstore or cosmetic store for $7.49 (US)

  • DoTERRA LAVENDER Essential Oil

My nighttime ritual isn’t complete without rubbing DoTERRA Lavender Essential Oil to the bottom of my feet. DoTerra is a certified pure therapeutic grade oil so you don’t need to worry about filler and artificial ingredients. Craig and I introduced essential oils into our daily routine about five months ago and haven’t looked back.

Lavender is a beautiful oil that has a lovely calming effect and soothing aroma. Lavender is used to ease depression, soothe anxiety and induce sleep. It can also be applied to soothe bee stings, diaper rash or sunburn. Create a relaxing spa bathing experience by adding a few drops of lavender oil with bath salts. Lavender oil can also inhaled to ease motion sickness while traveling.

If you are interested in essential oils, check out the DoTERRA website or contact me via my Let’s Connect page and I can get you in contact with some of my friends who sell DoTERRA products.

I hope you enjoy checking out my must-haves for May. I want to thank you—yes, YOU—for giving me the opportunity to share some of the things I love and am inspired by with you.

Thankyou for a lovely post Sarah-Kate. I love the idea of an intention word and GENTLENESS has actually been my word recently as well. It is so good to keep reminding ourselves to be gentle with ourselves in the day-to-day activities of life.

DoTerra Lavender Oil is AWESOME. Yes, I am giving it a total Shout Out. I wasn’t aware of it until Sarah Kate discussed it in her blog. Thank you Sarah Kate for mentioning it in your blog.
