Mariposa Must-Haves: March

Mariposa Must-HavesWho else thought February flew by? As we head into a new month, it’s nice to reflect upon the month that just was.

A lot of great things happened for me in February. I began my second year of teaching and am so blessed with a fun and unique bunch of students. I made some major leaps in my health journey as I continue to recover from Leaky Gut and, best of all, Craig and I bought a puppy!

For my second instalment of Mariposa Must-Haves, I’ve got 3 amazing things to share with you.

But first, check out my February Must-Haves here. 

This month is all about Intention.

All 3 of these ‘must-haves’ require you to be intentional about your health and wellness. When you do something with purpose and intent, beauty comes your way. Your passion attracts positivity and goodness. People are drawn to your spirit. 

Let’s get into it, shall we?

  • Dry Brushing

I began dry body brushing about two months ago. I must admit, at first the sensation felt a bit weird. But, after a couple of days, my skin got used to it and I started noticing some awesome benefits! If you’ve never heard of dry brushing, you’re in for a treat.

WHY DRY BRUSH?

Your skin is your body’s largest organ and needs to be cared for. Dry brushing promotes cell renewal and opens your pores, which aids in the elimination of toxins. Dry brushing also stimulates blood circulation and activates the lymphatic system. By helping move lymph fluid, the body can eliminate waste more efficiently.

Dry brushing makes your skin radiant, tight and soft. Some claim that dry brushing can even reduce cellulite over time! I find this practice to be both energizing and calming.

HOW TO DRY BRUSH?

Dry brushing is a very simple exercise. I recommend doing it every morning on dry skin before you shower for 2-5 minutes. Using a soft, natural-fiber brush with a long wooden handle, brush from your feet upward towards your heart.

Start with the left side of your body and then the right. Use light, quick strokes in an upward motion. Focus on your limbs, torso and back and pay special attention to the major lymph nodes in the groin, armpits and base of the neck. Avoid brushing sensitive, irritated skin, as well as breasts and genitalia. Wash your body brush regularly to rid of dead skin cells.

  • Vision Board

I got the idea of creating a vision board from the awe-inspiring Rachel MacDonald over at InSpacesBetween.

Rachel states that “What we focus on expands, so crafting a board of your brightest dreams is a surefire way to clarify your intentions.”

Creating a vision board enables you to speak life into your hopes and dreams. By intentionally reflecting upon what makes you excited and what you want to accomplish, you begin to uncover your passion and purpose.

Clarity leads to action, and action awakens your dreams to an enchanted reality! 

HOW TO CRAFT A VISION BOARD?

Before you begin, spend some time daydreaming about a limitless future. Dream BIG and don’t let fear get in the way. Nothing is silly or impossible. Once you feel inspired, get crafting!

Browsing Pintrest is a good place to start for affirmations, quotes, images and pictures. Choose images that convey the emotions you want to feel, the places you want to go, things you want to experience. Pick pictures that light that fire in your belly and make you feel alive.

  • Juicing

JuicingCraig and I bought a juicer as a Christmas present for ourselves. Best purchase EVER! We juice every day and I love the way my body feels after drinking a fresh glass each morning.

Juicing is an effective way to absorb all the nutrients from vegetables and fruit. It is still important to eat whole fruits and vegetables for their fiber content. Also note that juice is not a complete meal. We drink our juice in addition to breakfast.

WHAT TO JUICE?

The beauty of juicing is that you can create all kinds of yummy combinations. There are so many delicious and vibrant fruits and vegetables to pick from. Throwing in a little lime or ginger gives an added punch.

WHAT TYPE OF JUICER TO PURCHASE?

I highly recommend the Oscar VitalMax 900 Juicer. It is important to use a cold-press juicer that does not oxidize the fruits and vegetables.

Remember to be intentional this month. A healthy lifestyle is so rewarding—for the body, mind and soul.
