MARIPOSA MONTHLY MUST-HAVESAfter a few months off from my monthly feature, Mariposa Must-Haves, I’m back to bring you my favorites for August.

I mentioned on Facebook that I love setting intentions at the beginning of each month so that I go forth with clarity. I intentionally enter the blank 30 or so days ahead with enthusiasm and direction. Some of my intentions are feelings that I want to over-arch my day-to-day living, while others are tangible goals I’m aiming to accomplish. With wham-bam-kazam vigor, I might add!

In the past, I was afraid to set goals and intentions because I feared the sense of failure that I knew would creep in if I didn’t reach them. This limiting self-belief kept me hostage for far too long from tapping into those big, beautiful dreams I have for my life.

If you hang around here often, you’ll know that I love sharing with you, my dah-ling readers. My story. Learned lessons. Triumphs. Struggles. Ah-ha’s. And so much more. So, today I want to declare my intentions for August loud and proud, in hopes that you can do the same.

Joy + Ease + Lightness

My intention for August is to live each day with these three words bursting forth from my soul.

//I want to feel that inexpressible joy— the JOY that dwells within each and every one of us.

//I want to move with EASE throughout my day. No struggle. No discontent. Pure ease and acceptance.

//And I want to experience a lightness of heart that feels like I’m dancing on glimmering, golden clouds that shoot out juicy-rich rainbow beams.

Lofty? Maybe. Desirable? Definitely. Achievable? Fo’ Sho!

So, I’ve written a focus question on a sticky-note and stuck it on my fridge. Every morning I ask myself:

Is there joy, ease and lightness in what I am doing?

If there isn’t, life is perceived as a burden or a struggle. (~Eckhart Tolle)

So, who’s with me?

Raise your glass (or cuppa or green smoothie!) to August Intention Setting!

Things I’m diggin’ this month

The Power of Now

It goes without saying, this book is a game-changer. The past few months, I’ve walked through some deep trenches in my life situation and this book {along with much prayer and meditation} pulled me back on my feet again. It’s a pretty heady read, so I recommend a highlighter and notepad by your side. I managed to only digest a chapter at a time as there is much to reflect and act upon. Words = potent. Concepts = life-changing.

Curry Stew

I’ve been a massive fan of recipe creator and best-selling cookbook author, Angela Liddon, for several years. Her mouth-watering and healthy recipes are fresh, practical and nourish your body both inside and out. Angela is a vegan who has recovered from an eating disorder, and she blogs over at Oh She Glows.

This curry stew is both gluten-free and vegan. I do make my own adjustment and substitute 1/4 tsp each of paprika, turmeric and cumin powders for the curry powder. I also top it with Oh She Glow’s vegan sour cream. The dish has a robust flavor and is chock full of healthy vitamins and antioxidants. Seriously, you don’t want to pass this one up, especially on these cold winter nights in Aus! I am quite chuffed to say that THIS bad-boy is my husband’s most requested meal!

  •  Morning Walks

No photo for this one, just good ole fashion motivation! I’ve been setting my alarm 45 minutes earlier than usual. Reason = morning walks with my (gorgeous) husband and (stinkin’ adorable) dog. Result = clear mind, invigorated body, nourished soul and happy heart! Half the time, hubster and I walk hand-in-hand: talking, dreaming, and eh-em, flirting. (Hey, flirtin’ don’t have to stop once the wedding rings are on!) So, this is more about connection +movement and less about exercise + calorie burning. But, boy oh boy, is it the best form of exercise for me at this moment in time. I am LOVING this morning ritual.

Okay, now it’s YOUR turn. What are you LOVIN’ at the moment? I’d love to hear in the comments below.

I just adore this post SK. There is a new energy to your words – a strength – a lightness – ease & flow. Whatever you are doing – keep doing it!!! The Power Of Now has been popping up in my world so much the last few months. After giving my copy away last year I’m off to purchase another for myself! I’m LOVING going with the flow – being guided by the Universe and allowing myself to be open to the opportunities + lessons coming my way. Big hugs xx

Jenny, thank you for always popping in with such encouraging, affirming words of kindness. Yes, I am welcoming in a new energy. The Power of Now was a life-changer for me. Seriously, mind-blowing (or would I say spirit-blowing!) haha! Welcome the lessons, embrace the growth, trust the process. Lots of love to you.

I would love to develop the discipline of waking 45 minutes earlier to take a walk with my hubby; or sit on back patio with him sharing the daily one year bible reading.

What an awesome idea to set goals for each month, waiting for the new year to arrive is way too far away!
Also a massive fan of The Power Of Now too, so totally with you on that; missed my bus stop a couple of weeks ago because I was too busy with my nose in it and not concentrating!
Love your writing style too, will be catching up on more of your work x

Love this post Sarah Kate and intention setting is so powerful. Beautiful words too, “I want to move with ease” love that. It was my birthday earlier in the week and I’m working on my intentions for the year ahead. Blog post soon to come. Have you read A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle? If you dig The Power of Now, definitely check out A New Earth too! Keep shining beautiful xox Nikki

Thanks so much for your kind and generous words, Nikki! Happy belated birthday. What a fantastic way to start off a new year with setting intentions. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for your post.

I haven’t read A New Earth. But, trusting Tolle’s genius, I best get my hands on it! xx
